Month of May for Mary

Month of May, “Flowers of the Rarest”
We begin the Month of May on Wednesday next. May has traditionally been set aside in the Church to honour Mary Our Mother. People put flowers on their doorstep as a sign of Mary’s welcome to our homes.
If you have an image of Mary as a statue of picture it is nice to place a lighted lamp or flowers before her image. It would be nice to involve children in setting up this little shrine in your home. It will bring Mary closer to the children’s’ consciousness.
You might like to say the family Rosary or part of it if the whole Rosary seems too long at the moment for your children.
Try going to Mass on Saturday mornings as a way of honouring Mary Our Mother in a special way, or you might think of a family day in Knock – it can be fun for the children.
You might like to light a candle at the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in the Church along with your children.
